Acid reflux is a condition affecting 15 percent to 30 percent of the U.S. population, reports Healthline. This equally as many as 30 million people per month. The condition causes burning pain in the lower chest area. This pain is known as heartburn and it occurs when stomach acid flows back into the esophagus.
